Is this a serious question.
Hello....You can, of course, make up you own packed lunches in the cafeteria, cruise lines do not generally provide them unless you are going on a ship's excursion and in many countries you are forbidden to take foodstuffs ashore.
Personally, I fail to see the logic of carrying coals to Newcastle unless it is for financial reasons but that, as I say, is my own opinion....Heather
Most snack packs where offered are poor value.Your trip should include refreshments if full day or have a stop at a reputable local eatery for self purchase usually much better and cheaper than snacks on the ship.
Our last ship offered crisps choc bar and cola as snack pack-we bought full meal and beers for about same price on shor.
Yes this is a serious question, asked on behalf of an elderly gentleman trying to surprise his wife of fifty years.having never cruised before have no idea what to expect or budget for i only hope its not the condesending attitude of richar.
Hello Mr or Mrs or even Miss Phillips. To be serious about this ...the answer is basically no. When going on a ship's excursion should the length be longer than four hours then normally a lunch is provided. The ship doesn't like you to miss out but if you are going ashore on your own or with friends then you can wrap something up from breakfast or buy something whilst you are out. It is normally considered penny pinching and is often ridiculed by other passengers but taking food ashore wrapped in a paper serviette is done except in America and the Caribbean where is not allowed. But on a cruise ship you are not going to faint from lack of food and whilst on board most ships room service is available almost round the clock and the various restaurants and cafes are open a lot of the time and whilst ashore food is not as important as you might think. Tell him not to worry about food but to keep his eye on his shipboard account where items do seem to appear at a surprising rate . regards Heathe.
