Find Your Cruise
Don't know about the excursions .. not been to that area.. but any cruise ship I have been on has always had laundry rooms where you can wash and dry a few clothes and these usually include ironing boards too.. if its important look at your ships plan and see if they show "launderette" or laundry room on i.
No irons allowed in any rooms - they are a fire hazard. Send things out for pressing if needed.
Depends on what your ports of call are.
One golden rule though. If you "do it yourself", make quite sure you get back to the ship in plenty of time.
Any helpful 'tips' folks, on excursions in ... Rome; Athens; Florence; Naples and/or Nice. Thanks, I'm finding this site so useful.
In answer to Graham - you will find that Rome and Florence are actually excursions in themselves, since bot are about 50 miles inland from the ports. The bus will simply drop you off and pick you up later, so you do your own thing.
In Naples many opt for Pompeii, and you can also visit Sorrento and even the Isle of Capri. It's fairly easy to arrange these trips by yourself either by boat from the quayside or by local train.
If you don't want to spend the whole of your time in Nice, you can reach Monaco by train - many give it a poor review but I think it's worth seeing at least once.
We did this cruise on the millenium 3 years ago, Fantastic. we did organised tours on each stop, needed an holiday when we got back
the Venice walking tour well worth it. DO NOT do the gondla tour what a complete waste of money. Rome is a good hour train jouney from the port, we and many others just hopped on a train and had a great day doing the sightseeing, please do the tour to Capri, what an island!
happy if you what to contact me my e-mail to give a full list of the tours we did and the good and bad pointsand even share some photos if you are interested
