Independence of the Sea Med Cruise do have good tour packages we book 3 tours and for both of us it came to a total of £198.00 for all 3. Which was well worth it and then the wife did not worry about getting back encase ship sailed without us also no getting on and off boarding buses and getting taxis, Trains and buses to conect.

All ok for doing your own. Nice is great to explore on foot, Florence is better visited by using the "Shuttle Bus" to Florence then doing your own thing and Rome best by catching the train from Civitavecchia to Terminus Station (St. Peter's one stop before for the Vatican) and then using the buses or Metro and walking to all the sites. Naples get the "Circumvesuviana" train to either Pompeii or even better Herculaneum (Ercolano) and it depends where your ship is parked in Sicily as to where you go or what you do. Hope that helps ... Neil.

Wilba - Answered a Question by O'Donovan (30 Jun 08 20:10)

In fifty years of cruising I've never heard or read anyone comment a cruise tour as good value. They have been overpriced since cruising began. Nice: you can get the train to Monte Carlo about 7 Euro return. Florence : Don't know. Rome: Civvy to Rome can be done by train. Buy a B.I.G.A. ticket for one day it covers you for train, underground & city buses. Very cheap about 10 Euro from memory. But be advised the attractions in Rome are spread out & need careful planning with underground & bus to achieve the majority of the sites in one day. Unless your very travel savvy I wouldn't recommend it on your own! Naples: Big choice! Vesuvius, Pompeii, Sorrento, Isle of Capri. All of these can be achieved on your own, Ship docks next to hi speed ferries to Sorrento & Capri. About 15 Euro return. Vesuvius & Pompeii, if you use a cab don't take the first price as you leave the terminal building, keep walking, the offers will get cheaper the further you walk across the dockside area. Negotiate a price & they will wait for you to bring you back to the ship. Sicily: If it's Palermo, I can't get excited about this town. If it's Messina then there is the option of Taomina. Wonderful! About 40 mins by cab. Regards Wilba....& hello again Neil.
