I went to Alaska with Norwegian Cruise lines and it was fabulous. The scenery is breathtaking, if you see bears, whales etc its a bonus, but not guaranteed. We saw everything except the elusive bear, but thats the chance you take.
Hi haven't been to Alaska but have heard of bears and whales at glacier bay and bald eagles been seen not sure about the raccoons.this trip sounds fab hope you enjoy it.
We went to Alaska with celebrity Mercury this August it was just like the brochures. We saw (and smelt!)a bear in Juneau , whilst sailing we were entertained by dolphins, saw whales,a bald eagle and its nest. We sailed within 3rd of a mile to Hubbard Glacier, saw and heard many spectacular calvings, it was very sunny but crisp there. Didn't see any racoons tho'. It was the most memorable holiday we've had, so far! If you do the cruise I hope you enjoy it too.
Bald eagles are frequently seen especially at Ketchikan. Whales are often seen from the cruise ship but this is pot luck. Whale viewing excursions generally see some whales if sometimes only from a distance. Poor visibility from drizzle may make it had to get photos. Bears are something else. Don't expect to see any unless an excursion definately says it is very likely. We saw no bears on our Alaska cruise in August.
The cruise was wonderful and the places visited are awesome. However expect rain and cloud (just like England) Whatever the weather you will have a great time. You wil love Glacier Bay

Sailed Inner Passage with Princess last year.Incredible holiday!! Saw plenty of whales and eagles but unfortunately no bears.Still worth the trip. Don't miss it.
An Alaskan cruise is the holiday of a life time, nothing will better the sights of the whales, dolphins, eagles and wild salmon as you explore each of the stop off places, the photos and sites are far better than any thing in brochures, they cannot do it justice.
The glaciers are spell binding, you cruise close but safe and to watch ,hear and feel them calving is amazing. We were treated to a display of the northen lights and stayed watching them to 3am with a splendid commentry from the ships officers giving you an explination of how they occour. The White Pass Railway is also very photogenic,we took almost a 1000 photos ,you just can't stop clicking,Go and enjoy and look at NCL they are great to cruise with.
To see more wildlife do a land tour then join the cruise ship. Check when Whales are in this region.
Went with Princess on Alaskan land tour then cruise in September 2006. This was last cruise of season. The land tour was brilliant, we saw beaver, moose, eagles. We saw bear, mother and babies on rain forest walk excursion in Ketchikan and whales on whale watch trip from Juneau.Plenty of seals, eagles and at that time of year dead salmon. The scenery is spectacular and the cruises we did in College Fjord and Glacier Bay were brilliant, thae captain got as close as he could and turned the boat round so both port and starboard passengers had good views. The narration from the onboard expert was informative as were the people from the national park service who joined us in the glaciers.
