Absolutely brilliant! Go for it! We did the 2007 Fourth of July round-trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. We went thru' ROL but there were travellers from other offeers (Bath Travel, for one). Beware the Brooklyn Terminal, which is not nearly so user-friendly as Southampton terminals. There are virtually no passenger-use luggage-trolleys and you are almost forced to use the dockies who are not particularly friendly but avid for large tips. The Immigration (west-bound voyage) takes for ever! On the east-bound voyage the UK Immigration people are on board and it's all done during the voyage. The QM2 is amazing. West-bound we had a Force 11 Storm and she simply cut through it "It's what she was built for" said the Captain reassuringly, and east-bound we had 4 days of solid fog (so the Captain was on the Bridge constantly) which made one realise what Titanic met.
Yes we have done this trip, last year on the Queen Mary, It was the most wonderful cruise we have experienced, everything, and I mean everything, was fantastic! We were in New York for 4th July 2006. Please go ahead and book, you will NOT regret it, we would do it again without a doubt. QM2 and New York is just magic, watch the New York skyline as you approach, it brings tears to your eyes! We always book with a special Cruise Agent, I would highly recommend them, their e-mail is info@sovereig cruise.co.uk and ask for Stefan, you won't regret it, I promise you.
