Find Your Cruise
Hi Mr/Mrs Hill. There's no need to worry. Flybe go directly from Glasgow to Southampton and they have only announced their schedules upto the end of March 2008. They will shortly announce their schedules beyond that date, after which time you can log onto www.flybe.com and book your flight. If you would like to contact the airline to find out when their schedules for May 2008 will be released, their phone number is 0871 522 6100 - but be advised: calls from a landline to this number are 10p per minute and higher from a mobile !
As to your question in regard to Cruise Connect, although I have not used this service, I am certain that it will get you there in more than good time to board your cruise. I do think though that it would be a pretty arduous journey from Scotland to Southampton by coach. I would hold out for the flight.
We use National Express from the West Country, and go the day before, thus saving any panic, if you are over 60 you get a good price --- you can check route and prices on there web pag.
Thanks so much to eyre, nottingham. It is very reassuring to hear that about flybe. We didn't fancy the coach journey and would prefer not to drive. thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
Flybe will be a good bet but it may be better for yuou to go the day before and not face the panic if flights are delayed. We stayed overnight in the Highfield House Hotel - very comfortable with a super restaurant next door for dinner. There is a cheaper number for Flybe that they do not advertise - 01392 268529.
If you live near the border at Carlisle, you will be half way to Southampton on the coach before you can get to Glasgow Airport, check in, go through security etc etc. We used the service from Preston this July during the big floods and had no trouble at all. The advantages are numerous, the driver takes the luggage off you at the side of the coach and loads it and then you dont see it again until it reaches your cabin about 15 minutes after you have arrived yourself! The coach was modern and well driven and we stopped twice before being deposited at the main entrance to the booking in area. No transfers, no taxis, no porters and no restrictions on weight. On the way back, we got priority disembarking cards and from the time we were called on the ship to the time the coach left was 40 minutes. Same two stops on the way back and we were in the house at Preston 5 hours after leaving the ship. Air travel is Ok for long distance but there is so much hanging around and stress points. The coach driver was great and remember the Eavesway service is tied in with P&O so the connection is almost guaranteed. Its not a separate company doing their own thing say like National Express. It is part of the P&O package.
Take my advice and buy a flask and a good book and try the coach. I am sure that you will arrive fresh and relaxed. Have a great holiday.
I have used Cruise Connect many times to go to Southampton, always on time, no delays, comfort stops etc. Usually have local pick up points, much more expensive than National Express, but you pay for convenience I suppose !!!!
I use Eavesway travel from Glasgow to Southampton and would recomend it to anyone. No Luggage limits and after you put you luggage in the coach you dont see it again till it is in your cabin. I have booked for my cruise for next year and the world cruise as I will more than likely have extra luggage and it is not a problem.
Thank you for your answers. is eavesway not just for p&o cruises or can cunard use them also.
