My wife and I will be sailing on the March 24th Eastern Caribean Cruise for our Honeymoon. My understanding is that FO recomend formal for two evenings, and that dining during Carribean cruises is more relaxed, to the extent that short sleeve shirts and no tie is expressly accepted. My wife is a little concerned about too many older/stuffy people being on the cruise. I do hope we do not have to share this cruise with somebody as rude, unhelpfull and ignorant as Macleod. Obviously he/she was born with all the knowledge of the universe and has never needed assistance nor had to learn anything from anyone.

Well, well. well Macleod of Inverness. I am the one who does the pointedly blunt bits along with “A of N” but you knock us both into a cocked hat. I would say that you cannot stop people writing in their questions which, to the initiated, might appear very basic but whether they get answered will be the cursor of whether the rest of us consider that to be a worthwhile exercise. I look forward to seeing your answer to some of the more difficult questions…..respectfully yours…..Neil Oh! by the way capital letters means that you are SHOUTING XX.

Well aren't you both a pair of helpful people… FO dress code is more formal than most, a guide is 2 formal nights per week, with most of the rest being informal (jacket & tie) Macleod, your response is just rude and a waste of your time Down, I put the search in and for FO it appeared I would have to wade through the pages, with the exception that is, of your other 'helpful' post about typing 'dress code' in. I don't believe the 'helpful' part of my post took any longer to type than any of the previous posts. You're doing a great job of confirming the stereotype of cruising being stuffy (and full of old grumps.

We have just booked to go on the Empires and Pharoahs cruise on the Braemar (we leave on Thursday) and checked all sites as we were unable to work out the dress code too!! We checked THE BROCHURE as Macleod stated - we checked our info with the tickets (as stated in the brochure and A-Z guide on the website) which states: "Three formal nights and the rest a MIXTURE of informal and smart casual - What is a MIXTURE? I phoned the Cruise line - got put through to their Administration department to be told by a young lady "Just take a mixture .. we don't get told how many nights of each - why not take 5 of each?". On P&O cruises you get told how many of each - now my husband doesn't know how many shirts that can accommodate ties he needs to take - the ones he takes for smart casual nights do not necessarily take ties and there is a heat wave in the areas we are visiting so will the ship "relax" the rules! We are on a fly cruise so luggage is limited, we will not be going on a FO cruise again if this is the level of assistance they are prepared to offer to their clients!!
