Don't take the dollar sterling option, it will cost you 3% in transfer charges. Much better to be billed in dollars and let Nationwide do the dollar sterling translation. Then no 3%, no fees and a better conversion rate. With other cards it depends on the conversion charges but generally it's better to be billed in the ship currency ie. dollars.
I dont understand this as I went on a Princess Caribbean cruise, and registered my card on board. No 3% charge! Everything is billed in Dollars anyway as that is the currency on board. I think you should talk to your Travel agent and tell them you will be registering your account on board and not before. Kind regard.
As I understand it Credit Card Companies must allow you to pay in the currency of the country (or as in this case the ship) Some cruise lines do try to get you to allow them to do the change and them they benefit from better rates. I have never heard of anyone except the agents themselves charging any extra percentage and I would suggest that to clarify matters you should talk directly to Princess in Southampton....Regards....Leanne Dow.
I used my nationwide card onboard no problem and no charge . travellers best kept secret and i work for a leading airline.
Don't understand this ! don't bother to pre register your card with travel agent, do it on the day at check in. Pricess and Cunard both use the dollar system.
We are registering a Nationwide credit card for Emerald cruise on 31 Oct 08. Just spoken to Princess and they will charge 3% if you opt for them to convert from dollars to sterling. If you have your Princess account sent to Nationwide as dollars they will not charge. Thanks for alerting me to this. They told me not to pre-register but to do it on ship.
I am going on a Carribbean Cruise on the Princess Cruise, what do I have to do to register my credit card? Do I have to register a credit card? Can I use US dollars instead?
