Hi matt of ilkley .i dont wrap up my iron in beach towel after use as when ive ironed i wait till it cools down what i do is iron most items then hang them up .im very saftey minded as i allways used to have it drumded into me with my parents and dont smoke nor does my husband so dont think much chance of ciggarets getting left burning in my cabin.
You are not supposed even to take a travel iron with you because of the risk associated with its use. sorry. Nei.
No the use of irons is not permitted on RCI (and many other cruise lines).
Absolutely 100% forbidden. Fire hazard.
Hi ive allways taken my travel iron in my case wrap it in beach towel dont need beach towel for pool as you get towels for pool on cruise ships i suppose ive been lucky touch wood will be taken it this year agai.
So when the ship catches fire and sinks then please get your lawyers to contact Mr McGuire of Dunfermline to sue him for millions as he blatently disobeys the rules and appears to encourage others to do likewise..........
I suppose if thats the case you must not take it mr or mrs japp of elgin as mr or mrs aldrich of newbury says.
Mr.Jappy, I was on an RCI ship in the Caribbean in Feb 07. Security was very strict due to the threat of terrorists. A couple we got to know told us that they boarded at 2pm but didn't get their suitcases until 3am the next morning because the onboard scanners had high lighted their travel iron. Stupid thing was, RCI didn't confiscate the iron, just gave the couple a ticking off and told them not to use the iron!!
Mr/Mrs McGuire, Gosh!! I hope you don't wrap the iron in your beack towel when you've just finished ironing! This site is full of cruisers dreading the thought of a cigerette left burning on it's own and now thanks to you condoning irons they've got the added worry of people sneaking irons on board.
